![]() Having the browser forced in, and automatically taking over as the default browser one day is extremely worry some. I'm with the OP on this one, I've been a fan of Avast for a very long time, because of it's lack of forced bloatware, and great optional addons, keyword optional. I was never given an opportunity to deny the installation of the browser, and I never used Safezone. I'm sorry, I won't be able to help you with any system logs or anything I don't have any Avast information remaining. Intentional or not, the Secure Browser installation destroyed my trust in the platform and either the goodwill or the competency of the people making it. Either it was a bug (which is bad in a mission-critical program like antivirus) or it was intentional (which is even worse, and bodes poorly for the future of this program). ![]() ![]() If it wasn't malicious, it's clear that the divided attention of the team has caused some QA issues. I don't need a cleaner, or a browser, or an email shield, or anything like that. I hesitate to assign malice to this, since you've said that it was not intended but even if it was unintentional, I kinda need my antivirus to be simple, reliable, and unchanging, and Avast has become less of all of those things. I've uninstalled both the browser and the antivirus software, but I can assure you that I never voluntarily downloaded either (SafeZone or Secure Browser). Please feel free to DM me any details about your system, and if you have an upgraded version of Avast, your license/account info - I can also have support investigate what happened directly in that case (they may ask for a support package or logs to help track it down)ĮDIT: Also wanted to add that Secure Browser can easily be removed if you like. Thanks for your patience on this and for letting us know. In other words, if you never installed SafeZone before (or unchecked the box to install the browser) then we would want to investigate what happened here, as that's not the intended behavior whatsoever! Secure Browser won't install if you opt not to during the inital setup, download it directly and install it manually, or if you have/had SafeZone installed. It is true that we recently released Avast Secure Browser, which is both a replacement of and improvement to the previous Avast SafeZone Browser as well as an important security update.
